I have spent Saturday afternoon researching the passwords for the various Herucles legal OS's and have a new webpage at https://www.vintagebigblue.org/defaultPasswords.php. If anybody checks on it and knows of any I have missed please let me know.

Doesn't work for me! Instead a blank screen appears, then a couple
seconds later "Not Found" displays!
I wonder if it's a browser issue?
It's more likely a copy and paste issue. Did you try it without the . at
the end of the URL, as in:

Of course I prefer having my name spelled correctly, as shown by you above. However, I'm well aware that the German u-Umlaut "Ì" isn't present on many non German keyboards and I don't expect anybody to remember that on Windows systems one can just press and hold Alt while entering 129 on the numeric keypad to get it. So for me the other common spellings are fine to: Juergen or Jurgen.

The Online TK4- system described at this link: https://wotho4.ethz.ch/ https://wotho4.ethz.ch/
USERxx p/w PASSxx (xx = 01, ..., 04)
It should be noted that I can't guarantee that the online system is always accessible. A tn3270 client that supports SSLv3 connections is required to connect.

There is very little activity on this system, which is at the same time my development system. Of course, everybody is welcome to log on to this system and to look around. In particular, most of the stuff that will be in Update 09 can be previewed there, but currently still without documentation. In general, one will be better off downloading the current (Update 8) system from http://wotho.ethz.ch/tk4- http://wotho.ethz.ch/tk4-/ and running it on local resources.

This assumes you have a numeric keyboard. My Lenovo T430 does not have such a thing. Older ThinkPads have a “NumLock” that converts part of the main keyboard to being a numeric pad, but this is missing from the current models.

The On-Screen keyboard isn’t much help either. You can’t hold down “alt” for more than one keypress. I have to resort to the character mapper

Odd. On my system it's Alt+252, not 129.

When I use the "Character Map" tool (Start->Programs->Accessories->System Tools->Character Map), it appears to *ALWAYS* be Alt+252, no matter which font or codepage I choose. (Although I'll admit I didn't try them all!)

It must be due to either the codepage or font or the installed language or the keyboard you're using, or something else entirely.

The only 'Alt' character I sometimes use is Alt+254 for constructing a smiley face of a confused person with their tongue hanging out, a la:

I just checked on the problem and found a couple of issues. It would not work on a mobile device - fixed - now it does.

Some people were in fact copying the period at the end of the sentence which caused a not found error - I modified the server to delete any trailing period from a URL - now that typo is acceptable and the page loads anyway.

Sorry

And it works here, but you forgot a batch of them for VM/370rel6. You
have the ones from the later Six Pack, but not from the original one

Kevin,

It was a browser issue on my end. I started to notice other odd behaviors, thus after an uninstall/reinstall,
plus a system reboot, and "voila" the site appears no problem ...........

The info regarding Jurgen's online facility (it was not running earlier
this evening) are users created for use with the online version only.

They do not apply to the stock TK4.8 release although my systems do have
similar guest type users but with restricted access.

They are more for me to multi log in, remotely on an unsecured system's
to check logs, etc.

Buddy,
Can I ask for some clarification on this list?
You have a "skeleton" entry for "Bob Abeles's VM/370 4 pack system".
It is my understanding (from Dave Wade's site) that Bob Abeles system was a 3 pack.
The 4 pack system was built by Andie Norrie.
The 5 pack system was built by Paul Gorinskey.
The 6 pack system was built by Robert O'Hara.

Looking at the release6.direct file on Bob Abeles vm370r6-essentials.tar.gz, the user/passwords are:-
OPERATOR OPERATOR
MAINT CPCMS

The 4 pack system has the same user/passwords.
The 5 pack system appears to have the same user/passwords as the 6 pack.
