what is the most current and easiest hercules version to install under windows? i am trying to install tk3, and i need some help. is this the best forum?

The best thing to start with is TK4- (basically
a more recent TK3) which you can obtain here:

http://wotho.ethz.ch/tk4-/

It includes a version of Hercules and you should
be up and running in 10 minutes.

free to create a TKn and put it up for download.
If by "Official" you mean "a site provided by the software creator" in many
cases, with Hercules software releases the person providing the software got
bored and the original site is no longer available.

Yep, this is the "endorsed" Juergen's
"MVS 3.8j Tur(n)key 4- System" Web site.

Juergen Winkelmann is the "owner", creator and maintainer
of TK4- and he is on this list, usually.

Guess all of us, TK4- users, downloaded TK4- from
his web site and are grateful to Juergen for his
efforts.

By the way, there is a specific Yahoo list for TK4-
(it had been more general in the past, I guess):

I've got TK4 up and running!  I'm a retired Sr. z/OS and storage sysprog
wanting to re-familiarize myself after being out of the game for 6
years.  Looking for work.

now want paid employment?

If you want to refresh z/OS skills, bear in mind
that Hercules can run z/OS if you're able to
find a bootleg ADCD on the internet. I don't
know anything more than the name personally
though.

Only about 10 minutes.  Previously I was having problems trying to mount
the TK3 ISO on Ubuntu.

I like this better!

Yes, I'm not sure I'll have good luck trying to do remote work from my
home in Las Vegas, since I don't want to move.  That's a pity since
there are a lot of jobs if I wanted to relocate.

Clark County seems like the only mainframe customer in this town.

I am going to try z/OS as well.
