I have ADCD *.iso file with me , how can i convert it to CCKD or CCD format to use it for my hercules .Please guide me.

While I have never used the ADCD, I
know what an ISO file is, TK3 comes
as one in fact, and you have at least
two choices:

1. convert the ISO into a real CDROM

2. Extract the data from the ISO file
by using 7-zip

After you have done that, you can see
what files are contained within the ISO
image, and you may find that some of
them are already CKD or CCKD files.

As Paul says, you need to first extract the contents of the .iso file, then
work from there.

I don't know if this applies to all versions of ADCD, but the ones I've
seen had 2 big files per disk, and you had to merge them (and optionally
compress them), which can be accomplished as follows:

merge CKD files:
dasdcopy -lfs path\to\file_1 \path\to\output_file
(no need to specify path to file 2, but make sure file 2 is in the same
location as file 1)

compress CKD files:
dasdcopy -z -o CCKD path\to\input_file \path\to\output_file

If running under Linux you can mount the .iso then copy over the content
to a temp dir.

Then look for the cckd or ccd files and copy to a new dir for usage
within herc.

Well that was all I did but must admit I on,y use it very occasionally
for the odd test.

You didn't say which ADCD (VM, MVS family, or VSE), but in any case,
you don't want to "convert" the ISO image of the ADCDs to CCKD files.
The ISO images contain files of this format already, along with lots of
other stuff. They usually include stuff like copies of unzip utilities,
devmap files, several readme files, etc.

The ADCDs I have are OS/390, VM/ESA, and VSE/ESA, and they follow a
similar convention. Under the root directory of the CDROMs, there's a
directory with the name of the OS in lowercase (i.e. "os390"), and in
that directory there are a bunch of zip files, one for each volume. The
files within these zip files are the ones you want. The filenames of
the expanded files are the volume names, and the file extensions are the
device addresses at which they are expected to be attached. Sometimes
the zip files contain split volumes.

As an example, on the VSE/ESA V2R3 ADCD, the files are vse/dosres.zip
and vse/syswk1.zip, containing DOSRES.140 and SYSWK1.141 respectively.

As I explained in my previous message, they are already CCKD files.
Hercules can use these files directly. No conversion is necessary.

There should have been a config file of some sort too.

I've often seen where the CCKD files have an extension that is the I/O
address they are supposed to be at.

I don't know if it originated there, but this has been IBM's
convention for the ADCD distributions of OS/390 (and z/OS), VM, and VSE
for some time. The filename is the volume name, and the extension is
the device address.

In my knowledgement, the ADCD in IBM Dallas website currently in ISO format refers to ZVM running in Sysplex. Something like PLEXDVD. This a set of four DVD. I never download these medias and have nonidea about its content.I am a zpdt user and I have free access to this site.

I don't know what you mean by "in the
past" and I don't know how broadly you
define "IBM hardware", but IBM sells
zPDT at a price that an average US
worker can afford if they are serious,
and I believe it comes bundled with
the ADCD.
