Does Hercules require that the Microsoft Loopback Adapter be defined in order for TCP/IP to a mainframe to work. The reason I ask is that my work laptop was swapped out and when I define the loopback adapter I get a message stating that company policy is that we can only be connected to one network at a time and then it disables the Wireless Adapter and as a result I'm not able to connect to the internet.


If it doesn't require the loopback adapter then what steps should I take in order for this to work.


I'm running v1.11.1.5265 of the HercGUI and Hercules Version : 4.00.0-git-7913-gd8c9c52. under Windows 7.

AFAIK on windows, you need Fish's CTCI drivers and winpcap installed :

Sorry, to answer your question, the loopback adapter is not required.

Any network adapter should work.

Um,... though I *think* FIsh mentioned problems with wireless adapters ?

Even with the MS Loopback Adapter defined I'm still unable to get the CTCs working. I installed Fish's latest HercGUI and the latest Herc. This is what I get in the log file:

Depending on your Windows version, try running Hercules “as an administrator”

Ja I'm Not sure when the first adapter rule is used, but i use the -m mac_address switch with adapter address 0.0.0.0. This works for adapters on any position. But if it's an WLAN adapter it works only if the adapter has a connection. So for that case a loop adapter may be fine. But if it's not on the first position remember the -m switch.

Hercules ALWAYS uses the FIRST adapter. If it is disabled or wifi
(non-promiscous) it has NO connectivity.
