Is there anyone in the UK (maybe suffolk?) who has the ability to transfer data from an IBM 9 track 1/2" tape?
I have Forth for IBM360 which I would like to share/preserve.....

If nobody responds from the UK and you want to send them to the US, I can do and ftp the files back to you. Do you know the tape density? I can do 1600/6250, my 800bpi drive is currently not operational. Good luck!

I am fairly sure that the national museum of computing can do this. I think Jim Austin, or one of his helpers. http://www.computermuseum.org.uk/ can also do it.

Dave.

If this is able to be done, could you upload the Forth for 360 to the group files?
Thanks!

You have the 360 FORTH?! This is great news! I've been searching for
it for years. I even spoke with Chuck Moore himself while looking for
it several years ago. We had all concluded that it had been lost.
Thank you SO much for having a copy and wanting to get it archived.

I can read the tape, but I'm in the US, so let's maybe see if there's
someone closer to you who can handle it. Please let the group know when
you have the bits.

Thanks,
-Dave

I would definitely be interested in having a copy.

Since discovering FORTH in the very early days of PC computing, I have
been fascinated by the language.

I too would be interested in a copy of the compiler assuming it can be shared.
Thanks,
