Hello,


I am running hercules (Built with crypto external package version 1.0.0.17-g475bf11) under win7.
Then following message is displayed in the middle of the CTCE connection, Hercules was freeze.
Do you know the any solution?

Hello,
I confirmed two scenarios regarding CTCE connection.Actually I am running two Hercules.exe by one PC.
1) SYSPLEX - CTCE connection is working fine.
2) NJE - JES2 line using CTCE link is freezing.
Above 2) is occurring after starting TCP/IP.
TCP/IP is using LCS adapter.
I do not know if there is a causal relationship between the two (JES2 line and TCP/IP LCS adapter), but I will note it.

Hello Nishi,

Without additional info (configuration details etc.), I cannot really guess what the problem could be. The z/OS setup as you describe it has been tested extensively, even including many more CTCE links, and also with TCP/IP using an LCS adapter (as an Enterprise Extender), but between Hercules instances on different PC's (Windows 10, Linux (Ubuntu, Debian), and MacOS). If the problem is reproducible, I'd suggest trying the identical setup between two different Windows PC's, to exclude setup configuration difficulties as a possible culprit.

I ran Hercules several times after the problem occurred.
I have not made any changes, but the problem has been resolved.
I do not know about the cause, but now it is working fine.

You are not the first person to discover that CTCE error recovery should be improved, and I may be able address that at some time in the future. Sometimes the OS is able to recover a CTCE connection, but most of the time one needs to restart things to get everything working again, as your experience shows.
