And the above line once and for all shows the hypocrisy in these groups of never
talking about running z/OS on Hercules...

The simple fact is that you need to run z/OS on Hercules to be able to develop
Hercules to run z/OS.

So just let's stop being a bunch of hypocrites denying we use z/OS on Hercules
and are all happily running MVS 3.8j...

As for yours truly? I've been running z/OS 1.10 on Hercules (now 3.11) since 2009!

Thanks to everyone that replied. Based on everyone's replies,

these groups of never talking about running z/OS on Hercules...
What in the above indicates that zOS was running under
Hercules instead of at a client's site on an IBM server?

The simple fact is that you need to run z/OS on Hercules to
be able to develop Hercules to run z/OS.
Please explain?

Does that follow for zVM demo, zVSE, zTPF, etc.
Do you need all before writing an emulator?

You wrote RPF before zOS was available but it runs on zOS.
The same can happen with emulators.

What is needed is the specs for the system and an
occasional question to people that have a one of the
systems.

I use MVS 3.8j but if you have a license for zOS, feel free to
run zOS with a hundred copies of Hercules under it.
Then a copy of zOS or other systems under each.
Then see how many levels you can go.
zVM for each level is even more fun even without Hercules.

Glad you have a zOS license but a newer release of Hercules
has more features. You might like some of the improvements.

- invented the lightbulb
- " radio
In the early sixties the Soviet Union held an exhibition in New York
City, espousing their technical and commercial accomplishments. One of
the exhibits was a reproduction of the first radio, invented by Popov!
