Hi,
Okay, lets handle this step by step. First you need to make sure that
we are all on the same page with respect to your hardware. Do you
have a physical IP card on your PC? Normally you would if this PC is
used to access the internet via DSL or Cable-modem. Normally, you
would have a RJ45 cable (or you may be wireless) to connect from your
IP card to your router. If you have this, you MUST go into your
Hardware device settings for that hardware (not the loopback adapter),
and change the offload settings for that card to "NO".
-Right-click on MyComputer on your desktop
-Select Manage
-Select Device Manager (from the left side of the panel under
system tools)
-click on network adapters on the right side of the panel You
may see other devices (1394 etc., we only are concerned with the
physical IP card you have, not any software ones. (you should see your
IP card listed)
-right-click on the card, and select properties
-the displayed panel will have at lest 1 and possibly 2 values
that end with the word "offload", set them to disabled, or "NO",
depending on which fits your card.
-click okay and re-boot your PC.
If you don't have a card, then obviously this PC isn't going to be
accessing the internet via DSL or cable, but you will still need to
get the following versions of the software I list below.
Re-Download the following software, even if you already have it, get a
new copy. You will be re-installing, but except for WinPcap, you
don't have to uninstall anything first.
Make sure you get these versions, if not, or if you are not sure, make
sure you tell me what versions you did get.
1) Hercules itself (get the MSI install version).
http://www.hercules-390.org/hercules-3.05-native.msi
2) WinPcap
http://www.winpcap.org/install/bin/WinPcap_4_0_2.exe
3) CTCI-W32
http://www.cbttape.org/~fish/CTCI-W32_3.2.1.160_bin.zip
4) FishLib Dlls
http://www.cbttape.org/~fish/FishLib-2.7.1.564-bin.zip
5) HercGUI
http://www.cbttape.org/~fish/HercGUI-1.11.1.5265-bin.zip
6) MS and VC Runtimes
http://www.cbttape.org/~fish/vcredist_x86.exe
1 - Install Hercules MSI package (3.05)
Remember what directory you install this into, you'll need to
know it later.
2 - Install WinPcap (4.0.2)
In your case you should go to Add/remove programs and uninstall
the current version first, even if it's the same version. You will
need to reboot after uninstall and also after install before you go to
the next step, whether the uninstall and install tells you to or not.
3 - Install CTCI 32
(unzip and copy to hercules 3.05 directory you just installed
hercules to)
4 - Install FishLib
(unzip and copy to hercules 3.05 directory you just installed to)
5 - Install Hergui (1.11)
(Unzip and Copy to the hercules GUI directory)
6 - Install the Microsoft MFC Library and runtimes
Now, (after you have completed the above steps). Go to the Hercules
directory that you installed hercules and the rest of this stuff to,
and double-click on the TT32TEST.EXE file and everything should show
up as working correctly, there should be no failure messages, if there
are, send me the output so that I can see it.
If you have any problems or questions, please feel free to contact me.
You can call me or email me offline if you want.
I have also found that some people have failed to copy the NPPTools.dll
correctly,so you might also want to check that.
Once you have this part fixed and you can successfully test with TT32TEST,
then we can move on to the set up of the operating system pieces that you
will need to set up.
