Discussion:
[hercules-390] rje80 works (under linux), but get "$HASP094 I/O ERROR ON LINE1"

Hi,

I use tk4- and rje80 (see posting https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/hercules-390/conversations/messages/82279) under linux. All works fine, I can send a card deck with 'send' and get output back. The output, at this point written to file, looks OK and seems to be complete, it's definitively not truncated. Nevertheless I get for each job an error message $HASP094 right after $HASP150 , e.g.

JOB 57 $HASP150 PRINT ON R1.PR1 64 LINES
$HASP094 I/O ERROR ON LINE1 670,02,0C00,0070,A661

on the console. I tried a

/$plne1
/$slne1

but the $HASP094 persists. Even after a full reboot of the MVS system. Any idea what that could be ?

Hi Walter

I just cross checked it on my system, using the original rje80 binaries from 2006, on Windows and Linux. Both work flawlessly without producing any I/O errors on the corresponding lines.

So, I'd recommend you download the rje80 version found in the files section of this group and start from there. You could, for example, run an I/O trace to compare what the old version is doing, with what your version is doing... that should quickly give a clue.

Cheers

Hi Juergen,

tested the linux executable in the 2006 _rje80.zip.

Indeed, that one works fine !
But unfortunately that zip does not include the sources !

And obviously is different, because is has the set options
SET 2780 Emulate a 2780 RJE Station
SET 3780 Emulate a 3780 RJE Station
which are not available in the 2016 file _RJE80_029.zip.

Question: Does somebody have the sources of the 2006 version ?

As per this message:

There is some java source here:

https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/turnkey-mvs/files

rje3780.src.zip

Which I'm guessing matches the rje80.zip
in this group. Note that the filename
doesn't start with "_". For some reason
Yahoo Groups neo started adding that
extraneous character.

Hi Paul

guessing usually doesn't help! And no, it doesn't match. Even worse: The rje3780 Java program doesn't work reliably, iirc from testing a few years ago. The rje3780 source on turnkey-mvs matches (if anything) the RJE3780 binaries in the files sections of this (the Hercules-390) group. Furthermore, it is decompiled Java source and as such from my point of view not exactly useful.
