Software Development Laboratories is proud to announce the availability of a new Windows prebuilt version of SDL Hyperion 4.0 for Windows: "Hercules-4.0.0.8904-SDL-g6359717", now available for download at:

http://www.softdevlabs.com/hyperion/prebuilt

Important changes
-----------------

This version contains the fix to the previous prebuilt version (8873) that causes a crash when deprecated HTTPPORT or HTTPROOT configuration file statements are used. With version 8904 such statements will instead be rejected with an error message. You should replace all HTTPPORT and HTTPROOT statements with "HTTP" statements instead (i.e. "HTTP PORT ..." and "HTTP ROOT ...").

This version also contains two important channel subsystem fixes pertaining to proper Incorrect Length handling. A big THANK YOU goes out to both Alex Brodsky and Grzegorz Pluciński for reporting these bugs and for working so diligently and patiently with me to get them identified and fixed.

Also contained in this version are a fix to ECPS (VM Assist) "LRA assist" handling by Bob Polmanter, important bug fixes and stability and recovery improvements to the CTCE device driver by Peter Jansen, fixes to the LCS, CTCI, CTCE and PTP drivers related to Halt/Clear Subchannel handling, and a new "ORB" tracing command that proved instrumental in helping to finally track down and identify what ultimately proved to be two very important and otherwise difficult to find I/O channel subsystem bugs.

Honestly, as a retired class-G user just running the VM Evaluation Edition as a hobbyist, connecting emulated HP71 via virtual HPIL to some pipelines -- great fun! -- do I need your Hercules-4.0.0.8904-SDL-g6359717? Reading along the list of changes since previous snapshot - frankly - I do not grasp one single thing. Could you pls explain the advantage in simple words?

Ciao.....Mike
