I'm trying to piece together what it takes to install SLES11 on Hercules.
I'm not sure what devices are required in the hercules.cnf.
In the cnf I've astrisk'd out everything that gives an error.
I have defined DASD ./dasd/linux120
I set MAINSIZE to 3000
I have mounted the sles11 iso as ./s390/images
I start hercules.
It gets to the command prompt with PSW=00000000
I IPL ./s390/images/suse/ins

I eventually get to the suse install selection. (very excited at this point)

I have set up an ftp server on my local ubunto (hercules is running under
it)

I want to use FTP but when I select it I get the error that I need to
install a network module.

*** No network device found.
Load a network module first.

*** No repository found.

Choose the network protocol.

1) FTP
2) HTTP
3) NFS
4) SMB / CIFS (Windows Share)
5) TFTP

How do I install a network module?

I have used NFS when installing SuSE10 SP2 without an issue.

Please note that my Hercules is running on Ubuntu 9.04.

Thanks!
I just tried it but the the NFS failed to mount.
I know the NFS server works because I can mount the exported direcory on another used.

I just can't get it to mount on the SLES install. (now trying SLES10.3)

I get a busy on the CTC connection during the SLES setup. Could you take a look at what i posted on the Herc Newbie now needs help with NFS ? I posted there what I did during the setup and the responses I got.

How does mine differ from what you did?

Hi,

could you please upload the files. I'm most interested in this,
particularly the NFS install.

Thanks in advance,

Wayne
